Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984) more popularly known as Aisling Bea, is an Irish actress writer and comedian. After playing bits in several Irish and British TV shows from 2009, Bea began her professional career as a stand-up comic in the year 2011. As early as 2012 Bea began appearing on sketch comedy shows or sitcoms. After her victory during the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, she was booked for a variety of panel show. In 2016 and 2017, she was a member of 8 Out of 10 Cats team and also a part-time participant on the 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown spinoff. She is the daughter of Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead, her sister, was also born. In 2012 she was the only woman to receive the So You Think You Are Funny Award. Bea is her name in honor of her deceased father. Aisling Cliodhnadh was born March 16, 1984, in Kildare Town in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian is an equine veterinarian who killed himself when she was only three years old. Bea didn't learn how her father passed away until she was thirteen. In 2017, Bea wrote an essay for The Guardian about the suicide of her father's family and took on the stage name Bea in tribute. Bea's mom Helen was also a trainer for jockeys as well as a former professional jockey was responsible for taking care of her and Sinead. The family was racing and horse-related. Bea spent her childhood as a tour guide at the Irish National Stud. From a very young age, Bea knew that she didn't want the racing industry. Instead, she was drawn to the artistic arts.
